The ranch was hopping today with lots of visitors, including Community Service Day volunteers (thank you all SO much for your help with weeding, trimming, and beautifying the grounds!); several Scouts families led by Daniel Ramirez for his Eagle Scout Project (installing a new ramp at the farmhouse's back entrance, which was actually the original front entrance); and a mycology (mushroom) workshop, hosted by Rodgers Ranch Urban Farm and Bay Area Mycology Association. The Pleasant Hill City Channel visited and interviewed RRHC Board Members Denise Koroslev and Christian Rousset about plans for the barn, Harvest Festival on October 19, and more. We all greatly enjoyed having friends, neighbors, and volunteers spend their time with us and we appreciate all their hard work on the ranch! It looks amazing! Photos by Alison Clary

Anna Marie Beauchemin, clinical herbalist and founder of East Bay Herbals (EastBayHerbals.com) was our instructor for tonight's workshop, "Using and Preserving Herbs." Everyone enjoyed her extremely informative Power Point presentation before jumping in for the hands-on portion of the evening, Registrants chopped, grated, and sliced fresh ginger, garlic, and onion and added fresh herbs and apple cider vinegar to make their own fire cider, a savory concoction full of health and probiotics.
