Don't Eat The Lichen!

2/22/2021

Every year, amateur foragers of mushrooms make the mistake of picking mushrooms that appear safe to eat (especially if they resemble familiar looking species from other countries) but are actually poisonous. For more information on all things mushrooms, including some really cool stuff, visit the North American Mycological Association here: namyco.org. If you think you may have eaten poisonous mushrooms, call US Poison Control: 1-800-222-1222

Our partner, Sustainable Contra Costa is hosting this FREE webinar:
Sustainability LIVE: Living With Wildlife in Your Backyard
February 24th, 7-8:30 PM
Join us for this online FREE live broadcast every month as we interview special guests, share the latest tips and provide the inspiration, education, and camaraderie that will help us all live resilient lives in times of uncertainty.
Episode 10: We are grateful to live in close proximity to so many natural areas, but that brings us into contact with a wide variety of wild creatures. Have you encountered a raccoon, opossum, coyote or deer? What about tarantulas and snakes? Human interactions with our native animal neighbors should be positive, but they aren't always, and misinformation abounds. Our special guests from Lindsay Wildlife Experience will give us helpful tips and easy changes in behavior, so we can appreciate and respect native wildlife.
Register for this FREE event at sustlive10.eventbrite.com.
