A couple months ago, we replaced the old, broken down oven with a new one so we could have a fully operating kitchen for all our educational programs, including workshops, events, John's DVC Farm-to-Table Culinary Classes, and partner uses. The new gas oven required a hood and that has now been installed, along with the necessary pipe and coupling preparation that will go through the current new roof installation. We purposely waited to install this while undergoing roof installation so we wouldn't have to cause any damage later. The pantry's floor has been replaced and the entire room and shelving will be painted. These photos may not look like much, but in the end, everything will look clean and fresh and will be so much more presentable and functional. Thanks so much to Board Members John and Christian for their hard work, especially during this difficult time.
The Shellco Construction Company (not Ackman as previously mentioned) continues their daily work with the roofing project. The roof now lays bare in preparation for Phase 3, when the paper layer and composition shingles of the new roof will be installed. RRHC Board Members Christian Rousset and John Matthesen have also been working hard (especially in the steaming hot attic), drilling holes for the hood exhaust piping that will go from the new gas stove/oven through the kitchen ceiling and out the roof. They are also overhauling the kitchen pantry, preparing and painting the walls, shelves, and flooring. These renovations will greatly improve both the integrity and appearance of this 153 year old house!

Phase Two of the roofing project has begun. This involves filling the empty gap for sheathing and installing the roofing paper. The Ackman construction team includes owner Mike and his two sons, Bryce and Tyler. The East Bay International Jewish Film Festival partners with OpenDor Media and the JNF for the online premiere screening of the award-winning film, "Sustainable Nation." The film follows three Israeli innovators who are doing their part to bring sustainable water solutions to an increasingly thirsty planet. Using solutions developed in water-poor Israel, they are working to change the status quo of a world in which one in ten people lacks access to safe drinking water. Tune in anytime from April 28th to May 2nd to watch this incredible film. This is a free online screening. Celebrate Israel@72 with us! Use the Link: https://youtu.be/9XeLuymnZko
The farmhouse at Rodgers Ranch is getting a new roof! RRHC Board Member Christian Rousset is our site manager liaison and reports that the demolition phase began yesterday, April 28, See photos below! We are excited to be getting a new roof on the farmhouse! Construction begins Tuesday, April 28. Preparations begin now. The site will be completely off limits to the public, so we ask you to please refrain from walking by or through the property for the next month until the project is finished. The site is already officially closed but many of us have enjoyed taking walks past the property for exercise during this difficult time. Now we must ask for your cooperation in avoiding this area completely for the safety of the public and construction crew, We look forward to everyone seeing a "new and improved" house next month as we move ahead with this phase of historically accurate renovation, Thank you! |
